Cookie Policy
Version 1.1 · Last updated June 20261. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the website remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the service is used. Some cookies are set by us ("first-party") and some by the analytics and advertising partners described below ("third-party").
2. Your Choices & Consent
When you first visit Stories.Stream we ask for your consent before setting any non-essential cookies. Essential cookies are always active because the site cannot work without them; analytics and advertising cookies load only after you accept them. Your decision is stored in a first-party cookie (ss_consent) and you can change it at any time using the "Manage cookie preferences" control below or in the site footer.
3. Essential Cookies
These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are set in response to actions you take, such as signing in or recording your privacy preferences.
| Cookie | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|
auth_session | Keeps you signed in and secures your session | Session / until sign-out |
ss_consent | Stores your cookie consent choices | 180 days |
_ls, _lsp | Throttles the "last seen" activity update for signed-in accounts | 1 hour |
4. Analytics & Advertising Cookies (Optional)
With your consent, we use analytics and advertising cookies to measure how visitors interact with the platform, attribute conversions (such as registrations and purchases), and power advertising — including dynamic product ads for our titles. These cookies are set by Google, Meta (Facebook), and TikTok. The same identifiers may also be sent server-to-server to these providers (via the Google Analytics Measurement Protocol, the Meta Conversions API, and the TikTok Events API) for conversion measurement. None of this loads until you opt in, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors (client ID) | 2 years |
_ga_<id> | Google Analytics | Maintains analytics session state | 2 years |
_ssga | Google Analytics | Provides a fallback visitor ID for analytics when the Google Analytics cookie is blocked | 2 years |
_fbp | Meta (Facebook) | Identifies the browser for ad measurement | 90 days |
_fbc | Meta (Facebook) | Stores the ad-click identifier when you arrive from an ad | 90 days |
_ss_mref | Meta (Facebook) | Marks visits that arrive from a Meta movie ad, for conversion attribution | 90 days |
_ttp | TikTok | Identifies the browser for ad measurement | 13 months |
ttclid | TikTok | Stores the ad-click identifier when you arrive from an ad | 13 months |
5. Managing Cookies
You can review or change your analytics consent at any time through our cookie preference centre — use the "Manage cookie preferences" link in the footer of every page. You can also control and delete cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers let you block third-party cookies specifically. Note that disabling essential cookies will affect the functionality of the site.
